What a year for Capital City Pipes & Drums and Highland Dancers! Last week, we held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and celebrated an incredible 2026 filled with unforgettable experiences, big accomplishments, and plenty of reasons to be proud! 🏆 We brought home the big win! We’re celebrating our achievement as the Midwest Pipe Band Association Grade 4 Champion Supreme! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We took the band to Scotland! Competing at the 2026 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow was an unforgettable highlight and an incredible experience. 👏 We have new leadership as we look ahead to the next chapter for our band with a new Grade 4 Pipe Major and Lead Snare! We’re thrilled to announce that Ryan Praskovich will move from Pipe Sergeant to Pipe Major and Shaun Schuetz will be Lead Snare. A change in leadership doesn’t mean goodbye! Jon Maffett isn’t retiring or leaving the band - he’ll continue to be part of Capital City as we build on everything we’ve accomplished together. You can still find him at the Piper’s Hut, teaching our piping students, leading our band as Board Vice President, competing with us, and supporting our band’s growth. Huge thanks to Dan Cornwell for leading our drum corps to a MWPBA 4th Place finish, to Scotland and back, and continuing as a G4 snare drummer and our G5 bass drummer. And a big thank-you to all our band members, dancers, families, supporters, and everyone who helped make this year so special. We’re so proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what’s ahead! Here’s to an amazing 2027!

Great new space. Same great sound. Capital City Pipes & Drums is settling into our new Tuesday night rehearsal home at All Saints Lutheran Church, and we’re incredibly grateful to have such a beautiful space to gather, learn, and make a frankly unreasonable amount of noise together. Band practice means more than rehearsing tunes. It’s where our pipers and drummers learn from each other, our students build their skills, and we put in the work that eventually makes its way onto parade routes, stages, and competition fields. We got a dragon! Our grade 5 band placed 3rd at the Edinboro Highland Games and our drummers brought home best drum corp! What a fantastic finish to the season! Next up: off-season work to prepare for the 2027 season. Way to go band!

We moved! After a great several years at Church of the Master in Westerville, our new practice location is All Saints Lutheran Church on High St in Worthington. We practice there Tuesday nights from 6-9. If weather is nice we'll likely be away at a park. Please message ahead if you're thinking about dropping by. Looking forward to our new chapter!
